The first appointment
Regardless of age, if you have had no success in trying to conceive for six months or longer, we recommend that you schedule a consultation to determine if any problems exist. Causes of infertility vary from person to person and couple to couple and can be related to male or female factors, or both. The only way to really understand what is happening with your fertility is to have a fully comprehensive fertility test.
During your first visit, one of our fertility specialists will review your medical history, perform a preliminary exam, identify any issue or possible cause of infertility, and advise you about the best medical options available to you. If you have been referred to us by your Gynecologist and have had tests done previously, we recommend that you bring all medical reports with you to your first consultation.
The preliminary exam includes a Pelvic Ultrasound Scan which is a diagnostic procedure that assesses pelvic organs and detects abnormalities in the uterus, ovaries, or fallopian tubes, a Hormone Profile and Viral Screening which is a blood test required to check blood count, hormone levels, and whether a woman has ever been infected with certain viruses, and a Semen Analysis which is a test performed on a sample of semen to check both sperm count and motility.
Once the causes for infertility are determined, you will be given a treatment plan that is tailored to your needs to optimize your chances of conceiving.
